BGSU (20-11, 8-5 MAC) pitcher Payton Gottshall faced just one batter over the minimum on Sunday, giving up a total of 0 hits to the Buffalo Bulls (15-13, 6-4 MAC). The Falcons were able to take the series win two games to one.
On the day after Gottshall set a school record with 23 strikeouts in one game in the series opener against the Bulls, she came back and was able to pitch a no-hitter. She hit a batter in the first inning who was eventually caught stealing to end the inning. The only other batter that reached for Buffalo was Alexis Lucyshyn, who was also plunked. That was the only offense that Buffalo would get.
On her way to her second no-hitter of the season, Gottshall struck out 9 UB batters. For Gottshall, this marks her fourth no-no of her college career, including a perfect game last year against Cleveland State. Peyton Dolejs led the way for BGSU on offense, going 3-4 with a pair of runs scored, which proved to be more than enough to get the win, with a final score of 4-0.
Bowling Green will get the weekend off before playing a weekend set versus Akron (12-22, 7-6 MAC) next weekend.
MAC weekend series to look out for:
Ball State (13-21, 6-5 MAC) at Toledo (8-25, 1-11 MAC)
Akron at Western Michigan (14-22, 4-7 MAC)
Central Michigan (16-16, 7-4 MAC) at Ohio (15-18, 9-5 MAC)
Miami (21-12, 12-2 MAC) at Buffalo
Kent State (12-19, 3-8 MAC) at Northern Illinois (10-19, 4-10 MAC)
