BGSU’s 2020 Reopening Plan features the latest adjustments to on-campus living, as the university prepares to safely reopen its residence halls this August.
Scheduling move-in dates
Based upon class standing, students can request their move-in slot during the week of July 20 through the Housing and Meal Application section in their MYBGSU portal.
Incoming students are scheduled to move in between Aug. 20-22. Returning students can expect to move in between Aug. 23-25. The start of classes will officially begin that following Wednesday, Aug. 26.
Group organizations and learning communities can refer to the Group Move-In section on the BGSU website for more information about their reservation dates.
“Over the course of six days, we will have 6,000 students moving into our buildings. If everyone rotates between two guests, it adds up to 18,000 people — not including University staff,” which was stated in the move-in guide.
The university placed restrictions on the amount of guests in the dormitories and has mandated face coverings to prevent further exposure to the coronavirus.
While each student can have as many guests as they would like on campus, they are limited to only one guest while inside the building. Students are allowed to rotate between a maximum of 2 guests.
Additionally, students will be given a two-hour window to move in.
As another precautionary measure to minimize exposure, volunteer staff will be unavailable this year. Move-in carts, however, will still be offered outside the buildings and will be sanitized after each use.
